| Davis' 16 points help Heat end skid, defeat Bulls MIAMI 95, CHICAGO 88 |

MIAMI (Ticker) -- Ricky Davis and the lowly Miami Heat ended a pair of sevens. Davis scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half as the Heat posted a 95-88 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday. Chris Quinn had 16 points and six assists and reserve Kasib Powell had 18 and six rebounds for Miami, which snapped a seven-game losing streak. "I didn't know how much I was going to play today," Powell said. Anytime I go out there, I want to be full of energy and bring a boost to the team. I think things worked out for me." The Heat, who also stopped a seven-game slide to Chicago, received 13 points from Mark Blount and 13 and six boards from Earl Barron. "Guys were just out there, playing together, playing with passion and we got the win," Davis said. Luol Deng scored 25 points and rookie Joakim Noah had 16 and 13 rebounds for the Bulls, who were officially eliminated from playoff contention. "We just came out there and walked through the motions," Deng said. "I don't think we really played to win." The visitors entered Tuesday knowing that either a loss or a win by the Atlanta Hawks would end their pursuit for a fourth straight postseason appearance. The Heat turned this game around in the middle of the third quarter. Noah gave Chicago a 59-48 lead on a pair of foul shots with 8:33 left in the third before the Heat went on a 14-2 burst capped by a jumper by Quinn to take a 62-61 advantage with 4:48 left in the period. Davis, who connected on 5-of-9 from the floor and 3-of-5 from 3-point range, had five points in the spurt while Quinn added four. "Anytime you're out there playing the game and having success and winning, it's a lot of fun," Quinn said. Powell, who earlier on Tuesday signed with Miami for the remainder of the season, scored nine of his total in the fourth for the Heat, who shot 50 percent (36-of-72) and won for just the third time in 21 games. "It just felt good to be out there," said Powell, who was this year's MVP in the D-League before signing his first 10-day contract with the Heat on March 22. Ben Gordon added 16 points off the bench for Chicago, which shot 45.5 percent (30-of-66) and was looking to sweep a season series from Miami for the first time since 1991-92. "They just wanted it more," Gordon said. That's what it seemed like. They played a lot harder." |
