KANSAS CITY (Ticker) -- Wednesday's contest between the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Thursday, when the American League Central Division rivals conclude their three-game series. Fausto Carmona (2-1, 1.96 ERA) gets the call in the first game for the Indians, who rolled to an 11-1 victory in the series opener on Tuesday night. Carmona has been superb in seven career appearances - five starts - against Kansas City, as he owns a 3-0 mark with a 2.95 ERA. Kansas City counters with Brett Tomko (1-2, 3.60), who hopes to break through after two straight losses, including a 5-3 setback at Anaheim last Thursday. In the second game, Cleveland's Cliff Lee (3-0, 0.40) aims to improve on his 7-4 career record against Kansas City, which will send Brian Bannister (3-1, 2.42) to the mound. Wednesday's rainout was the Royals' first since April 29, 2006. |
