ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- Vladimir Guerrero and Casey Kotchman each had key hits to lead the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to a 10-7 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Monday. Guerrero hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Angels a 5-4 lead. Kotchman highlighted the Angels' four-run sixth with a two-run single to extend the lead to 10-4. Nick Adenhart (1-0) allowed four runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win for the Angels, who entered the game having lost four straight - their worst skid since a six-game slide from April 12-18, 2007. "I did what I could do to help the team end our losing streak," Adenhart said. "It feels good to get my first win, but it was a rough few starts up here. It was a negative exclamation mark for me, but good to get the win." Chicago starter Mark Buehrle (1-5) yielded eight runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings. The lefthander now has dropped five straight decisions and is winless over his last six starts. Buehrle dropped to 1-5 lifetime against the Angels and is winless in his last 12 regular-season starts against them. "Except for one pitch to Vlad, I think we would have won if that ball doesn't go for a home run," Buehrle said. "It has been frustrating this year, but I just have to keep my composure and get outs. I just hope it all evens out." The White Sox battled back with two runs in the eighth off reliever Chris Bootcheck and one in the ninth against Scot Shields. Closer Francisco Rodriguez relieved Shields and recorded the final two outs for his major league-leading 15th save. Chicago took a 3-0 lead in the second inning on a run-scoring single by Joe Crede and a two-run single to shallow center field by Juan Uribe. The Angels responded with two runs in the bottom half of the frame. Crede drove in another run in the fourth to put Chicago on top 4-2. Garret Anderson had three hits for the Angels, including an RBI triple in the fifth that gave them a 6-4 lead. Guerrero finished 2-for-5 with four RBI and he scored twice. "Vlad took a step in the right direction tonight to get his bat going," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He still hasn't found his groove yet, but he will." |
