| Huff powers Orioles to wild win over Brewers BALTIMORE 8, MILWAUKEE 5 |

By Dave Cotey PA SportsTicker Contributing Writer MILWAUKEE (Ticker) -- Aubrey Huff's power surge has the Baltimore Orioles streaking. Huff registered his seventh multi-homer game of his career with a pair of solo shots and drove in three runs as the Orioles beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 8-5, at Miller Park on Friday. Brian Roberts added three hits and scored twice for the Orioles, who won their third straight game and fifth in six tries. Huff, who finished a triple shy of the cycle, hit his first home run off Brewers reliever Mark DiFelice in the fourth inning. He added his second shot in the eighth off Carlos Villanueva. "Timing - it comes and goes and I'm going to try and ride it as long as I can," Huff said. "Tomorrow it could be gone." Huff homered in consecutive games for the second time this week and has five home runs in his last five games. "This is the best I've felt (this year)," said Huff, who matched a career high with four hits. Huff also hit home runs on Sunday and Monday for the Orioles, who improved to 8-2 in interleague play. "He's at his best when he gets hits the other way," Orioles manager Dave Trembley said of Huff. "He's locked in right now." Five Baltimore relievers shut out the Brewers over the final six innings after starter Radhames Liz failed to record an out in the third. Lance Cormier (1-2) pitched two scoreless frames for the win and George Sherrill got out of bases-loaded, ninth-inning jam for his 25th save. "I don't get nervous when I'm out there," Sherrill said. "My fastball was all over the place, but I was able to make some pitches and made the defense work." The Orioles scored six runs in the first two innings off Brewers starter Jeff Suppan (4-5), who lasted just 1 2/3 innings and surrendered seven hits. It was the veteran righthander's shortest outing since May 10, 1998, when he recorded just four outs as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks. "On 0-2, I was unable to put them away," Suppan said. "I missed my locations, and when I was in the zone, I was up. Tonight, unfortunately, I didn't give the team a chance to win. I put the team in a hole early on." J.J. Hardy and Prince Fielder homered for the Brewers, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. The Brewers left 11 runners on base and were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. "Their bullpen did a nice job of coming in and shutting down the game," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "We had the bases loaded there with nobody out and made it exciting." |
