Free MLB Player Props Picks For Today

Alex Wood Under 4.5 Strikeouts

After a slow start to the season, Alex Wood has looked better as of late, while his strikeout rate up to 24%.  However, the Rockies have the seventh-least number of strikeouts in the league. Wood’s strikeout rate also drops against right-handed hitters and he should be facing at least eight (projected) righties tonight. 

Coors Field suppresses strikeouts and increases BABIP which leads to shorter outings for pitchers.  If Woods gets away with batted balls, he still will be going up against a right-handed, low-strikeout team in the Rockies.  At even money, this is my favorite K prop on the night.  

Brandon Belt, LaMonte Wade Over 1.5 Total Bases

If I have to choose between one of these, I would take Belt, since Wade does come with a little bit of pinch-hit risk. 

However, I still want to get to both on my betting card. Wade has been hitting the ball hard out of the ballpark with three home runs in his last five games. Today is no place to hop off the Wade train.  He gets a matchup against Jose Urena at Coors Field.

This is the best possible matchup in all of baseball. Belt has not been himself this season and I don’t have much of an explanation why.  He only has three extra-base hits in the month of August, but sometimes that is just baseball. I am going to look more at long-term form, opposed to his recent stats. I am going to take a small amount of these wagers and put them on their home run props as well (Belt +300, Wade +430)
