Risking 1u to win 1.55uSoto is one of the most prolific slow starters in MLB, and I will be attacking his unders consistently to start the season and hoping that the WBC didn't throw a wrench into my plans.
In April/May in his career, Soto has a .258 batting average; in no other month is it below .274. He had a .241 batting average last season in April/May games in his first season with the Mets.
When looking at Statcast park factors, Citi Field has been one of the worst places to hit for left-handed batters for a few years, and we should have pitcher-friendly conditions on Opening Day, with temperatures around 60 degrees.
There is also this guy named Paul Skenes on the mound for the Pirates to start the game, who allowed just 136 hits last season in 187.2 IP, which was one of the best ratios of hits allowed per IP in the league. If Skenes can go 6 IP, that leaves possibly just a single at-bat against the bullpen that would likely be lefty vs. lefty, unless it's a save situation for Pirates closer Danny Santana.
At a very solid plus-money number, this looks too good to pass up on a notorious slow starter who carries a big name and will always have good stats by the end of the season.
