Free NFL Week 1 Player Props Picks
- Matthew Stafford OVER 36.5 pass attempts (-114, FanDuel)
Thursday night is the start of the NFL season and I like targeting Matthew Stafford in a game where we should see a ton of points scored and I see Stafford airing it out often to Cooper Kupp and newly acquired receiver Allen Robinson. Given the high total of the game at 52.5, and a game where both quarterbacks will be throwing it a ton, I will take the over on Stafford’s pass attempts in an extremely fast-paced game where Stafford will be looking to throw it first.
- Joe Mixon OVER 67.5 rushing yards (-115, DraftKings)
Another running back I like a lot this week is Joe Mixon. Against Pittsburgh, last year, he rushed for 90 yards last September, and in November of 2021, he rushed for 165 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Blitz has also projects Mixon to have 18.7 rushing attempts, which is only behind Derrick Henry and Jonathan Taylor. This will be Joe Burrow’s first game back after an appendectomy, so I could see his passing numbers being down a little as they may have Mixon more involved in the running game to start the season. Joe Mixon is still one of the best running backs in a high-powered offense led by Joe Burrow.
- Joe Burrow UNDER 261.5 passing yards (-115, DraftKings)
Even though I like Joe Burrow and the Bengals offense this week, this will be his first game for Burrow after having an appendectomy not that long ago. As I mentioned above, I really like Mixon to get a ton of usage and he has great history against Pittsburgh in the past. I think it will be a little tougher for Burrow to surpass the 261.5 mark this week so this is an under that I am targeting Week 1.
- Clyde Edwards-Helaire OVER 46.5 rushing yards (-115, DraftKings)
The Kansas City/Arizona game is another great game environment this week with a 54 total. We will get a first glance at KC without Tyreek Hill. CEH has been disappointing since coming into the league, however he is the starting RB in one of the league’s best offenses and I could see him breaking off a few big runs to get past the 46.5 number quickly. I think this is the year that he finally has a big season and I think we will see his upside in week 1.
