Odds & Ends (3/1/22): Experts End February With A Huge Winning Night
TheScoresAndOdds team wrapped up February with a bang, picking up over 16 units on Monday, as the premium betting picks continue to prosper heading into March.
Better brew another pot of coffee or refill the Keurig.
Things I thought I’d never say…Was anyone else up late “stalking” Bog Nightengale’s Twitter account?
Was he the the only beat reporter with credentials to cover the negotiations? This isn’t a shot at Jeff Passan, I genuinely don’t know!
The Bob vs. Passan memes were pretty entertaining at least. The internet sure is ruthless. I can speak for most of us, in hoping we have a fairly normal MLB season – or any at all.
If you were up past midnight, paying attention to whatever hour the league/players’ negotiations were on, you may have had some left over adrenaline following the immaculate Monday our ScoresAndOdds experts had. What a night!
SGA Delivers
No, “SGA” doesn’t stand for Surely Great Advice, but it definitely was on Monday.
Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was a consensus betting pick among 4 of our experts
SGA delivered, smashing his NBA points prop of 27.5 or 28.5, and almost climbed the entire ladder to the 40+ ALT line. We’ll never complain about hitting 35+ points at +290 (FanDuel) odds though!
Gilgeous-Alexander finished with 37 points on only 16 FGA, but he took 14 foul shots, while recording a 34.8% usage.
The Secret Sauce
Not all secrets are meant to be shared, but in reality, most of the ones we care about are easily discovered via RotoGrinders tools.
Here’s the “secret sauce” behind the experts’ favorite pick yesterday.
The RotoGrinders Court IQ tool easily helped find data to support SGA, while his teammates Lu Dort and Josh Giddey were ruled out.
It was about the strongest sample size you can get without two fellow rotation players on the court.
Without Giddey and Dort, over 200+ minutes this season, Gilgeous-Alexander gets a 6.5% usage increase, and in theory, averages 12.36 more real points per-36 minutes. It’s just a massive move and a clear indicator.
His per-36 numbers, under these circumstances, almost exactly matched Monday’s output and final line.
Finishing February Strong
The ScoresAndOdds experts collected 16.29 units with a 21-11 record on Monday to close out February with a bang.
