Greetings, SAO readers! Every other Monday, I am going to take a look back at the past week and try to find some value in the MLB futures markets.
We have already hit the month of June, and races are starting to take shape across the league.
Here are some of the futures I am looking at as of Monday, June 6th!

AL Central Order of Finish – #1 White Sox / #2 Twins
- Current Odds: +160 on DraftKings
The White Sox have continued to disappoint throughout the first two months of the season, but I still believe they will right the ship with a hot run over the summer. When some of their big bats get healthy, and Lance Lynn returns, an eight or nine game winning streak will come at some point. The Guardians have started to fade already and are just a half game ahead of Chicago right now. Detroit and Kansas City are afterthoughts.
The Twins are going to be the only real competition. Instead of betting the White Sox at basically even money, let’s go with the White Sox to finish first and the Twins to finish second at +160 on DK. If the White Sox win the division, this should be the correct outcome, as I do not expect Cleveland to keep pace over the summer.
Regular Season Longest Win Streak By Any Team – White Sox
- Current Odds: +2000 on DraftKings
Let’s add to the bet above with another. The White Sox are 20-to-1 to have the longest win streak by any team this season. The Yankees and Astros currently hold that in tandem with 11 in a row (I don’t think the Astros are a terrible bet on this prop at +320, either, in the event that the current streak holds and that bet splits).
If any other team can challenge that at some point this year, the Dodgers are the most obvious. However, they are only +1300. I’ll take a shot on the White Sox at +2000. If the lineup gets healthy and the rotation stays intact, they will have a quality starter on the mound virtually every day. That can lead to a long win streak. Perhaps I’m over-valuing their potential, but I like taking some shots on some longer odds futures at this stage.
Phillies To Win The National League Pennant
Don’t go crazy here, obviously, but this Phillies’ team has way too much talent to simply disappear from the radar. They swept the scuffling Angels over the weekend after firing Joe Girardi, and they have now won four games in a row. With the expanded playoffs this year, they are certainly in the mix to make it to October. With their loaded offensive talent and Aaron Nola leading the rotation, I think you can sprinkle something on them at hefty 20-to-1 odds to win the NL pennant.
