Three For Thursday – STLCards’ Best MLB Bets & Predictions (5/5/22)
Greetings, SAO readers! Each Thursday, I am going to bring you three of my favorite MLB bets for the day in a quick, easy to read article that we’ll call “Three For Thursday.”
We have a fun day of games on tap, so let’s see what today has in store for us!
- Toronto Blue Jays Run Line (-1.5) over Cleveland Guardians (Current Odds: +105 on DraftKings)
This is a tough spot for the Guardians. They have to face the dangerous Blue Jays lineup the day after playing a grueling doubleheader against the Padres where both games were decided by one run, and one of the games went into extra innings. This is a prime letdown spot, particularly for a team that has been overachieving offensively. Jose Berrios is on the mound for the Jays, and he looked much better in his last start. I expect a comfortable Toronto win today.
- Miami Marlins/ San Diego Padres Over 7 runs (Current Odds: -112 on PointsBet)
Even with offense being down across the league this season, the fact that this game has a total of just seven runs surprises me. Jesus Luzardo has been an inconsistent pitcher ever since he came into the major leagues, and Nick Martinez is the obvious weak link in the San Diego rotation. While both offenses are also inconsistent, I expect some runs in this game. The Padres are also thinner in the bullpen today after playing two one-run games in yesterday’s doubleheader against Cleveland. Give me the over here.
- Seattle Mariners, Moneyline (Current Odds: +118 on FanDuel)
If you have read my content for any length of time, you know I am higher than most on the Mariners this year. We have two very talented lefties pitching in this game in McClanahan and Ray. I expect a close, low scoring game with two strong pitchers and two pesky offenses. I generally favor the home team in these types of matchups, and we’re also getting very favorable odds with the Mariners at +118 on FanDuel. Take the +EV side here, though I must admit that some of this is probably my pro-Mariners bias creeping in. In any case, let’s go M’s!
