Free NBA Betting Picks For Tuesday
Atlanta Hawks @ Miami Heat
I really thought that Trae Young would have a little more success with Kyle Lowry off the court but it seems as if he is having trouble with the Heat’s overall defensive scheme. The Heat are doing a tremendous job of doubling Trae, while the Hawks’ secondary options are not getting the job done to help the Hawks put up points. The Heat are by far the better overall team, despite the fact that Bam Adebayo is having a really terrible series, possibly due to his quadricep injury.
The Heat have still dominated the paint despite Bam’s struggles. Miami has covered this 7.5 point total in every game they won this series and I see no reason why they can’t do that again today. The Heat only committed six turnovers last game and continue to play tremendous team basketball, which is the ideal way to play in the playoffs.
- Pick: Miami -7.5 (-110), Multiple Sportsbooks
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Memphis Grizzlies
It seems as if the Grizzlies want to slow the pace down against the run-and-gun style of the Timberwolves. Ja Morant has complained that his knee has been bothering him, which in my opinion, is more gamesmanship more than anything else, but we haven’t seen him play his typical explosive style. If there is truth to the knee issue, it will help slow this pace down even more, and make the Grizzlies continue to rely on their secondary pieces.
Of course, Desmond Bane could shoot lights out from outside the arch once again, but he is outperforming his season averages in the last two games, which I don’t think will continue in what I suspect will be a tightly contested Game 5. Look for the Grizzlies to continue to drastically reduce the pace of the game when it gets to the 4th quarter which they have done all series long. I find that increasingly likely today since I think they will be winning this game by 6-8 points to start the 4th.
- Pick: Under 233 Total Points (-110), PointsBet Sportsbook
NBA Player Prop – Trae Young
As I discussed above, the Heat are going to make anyone else other than Trae beat them. Trae is getting double teamed at a high rate and is not being allowed to shoot. I think the only way this over hits is if Trae gets hot from the 3-point line. Certainly, that is possible, with the caliber of player that Trae is and the amount of minutes he will be playing it will be a tough bet to sweat. The way I am handicapping this game is that the Heat dominate every facet and neutralize Trae so I feel like this under PRA is a must bet.
- Pick: Trae Young Under 37.5 PRA (-120), DraftKings Sportsbook
Free MLB Betting Picks For Tuesday
Detroit Tigers @ Minnesota Twins
This line really stuck out to me so I dug a little further and followed the money that has already come in on this game – 59% of bets are coming in on the Twins, but 62% of the total money is coming in on the Tigers. That means that more sharp money is coming in on the Tigers and more public money is coming in on the Twins. That’s in line with what I was thinking when I was researching the betting board for the MLB today. Despite having Byron Buxton back, the Twins are a very poor team up-and-down the lineup. Eduardo Rodriguez is a very good pitcher, and is more skilled than Twins’ starter Chris Paddack. Obviously, neither one of these teams are good offensively, but I will always have a lean to the more talented pitcher being an underdog. There is always variance in betting baseball, but I always want to be putting money in what I consider to be +EV spots. The Tigers are one of them tonight.
- Pick: Detroit, Moneyline (+120), Multiple Sportsbooks
MLB Player Prop – Jazz Chisholm
Don Mattingly’s experiment of batting Chisholm ninth is hopefully a thing of the past. Since he has been batting leadoff again Chisholm has been on a tear and the Marlins are a much better team with him at the top spot. Chisholm is one of the best hitters in baseball that doesn’t get enough credit for his overall skill set. He has both power and speed and contributes in all facets of the game. Josiah Gray is a good overall pitcher and is considered a top pitching prospect in the coming seasons. However, he is still very unproven despite his early season success, 85 innings in the majors is not something that I will consider a meaningful sample and consider this a really good value for Chisholm to hit this over 1.5 total bases at plus money.
- Pick: Jazz Chisholm Over 1.5 total bases (+140), DraftKings Sportsbook
Free NHL Betting Picks For Tuesday
Before I break down this shot-prop bet, I just wanted to note that I will only be focusing only on shot-prop bets until the playoffs start. It is the softest market in hockey right now and I only write about what I am personally betting.
NHL Player Prop – Kevin Fiala
It simply doesn’t get better than a home matchup against the Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes are essentially a AHL team that plays for a professional organization. Fiala will have so many chances in the offensive zone and with his high shot rates this is as safe a bet that you can make in the shot prop market tonight. The juice needs to be raised to about -140 for me to want to stay away from this bet.
- Pick: Kevin Fiala Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-105), DraftKings Sportsbook
NHL Player Prop – Brent Burns
Burns may not be the offensive producer that he once was but he still plays over 25 minutes a night. He skates on the top defensive pair with Mario Ferraro who is an outstanding defensive defenseman but doesn’t contribute much in terms of offense. That allows Burns to do what he does best and that facilitates play from the point and given the minutes and odds of +125 makes this a +EV bet.
- Pick: Brent Burns Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+125), DraftKings Sportsbook
